Alex Barlow: Reservations Assistant – Dock Hand & HR Assistant Co-op
Alex is currently a third year student at Camosun College, he is working towards his BBA in Human Resources Leadership while working part time. In the new year, Alex will be beginning his second work term at the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority as an HR assistant. With this opportunity Alex hopes to gain the knowledge and skills to jump start his future career as an HR professional and add value to the GVHA’s operations and culture.
Before joining the team at GVHA, Alex spent one year studying abroad in Spain at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona. With a focus on Economics and International Business Alex was able to make life long connections around the globe and bring back unique stories and experiences to share among his friends and family in his hometown of Victoria B.C.
Alex mentions that finding peace and comfort in his life comes from making an effort to always discover the common ground that lies between us. He believes that nothing is more valuable than the relationships we build and that our everyday lives are greatly influenced by those that show care and compassion for others.
Currently, as a reservations assistant and dock hand at GVHA, Alex is responsible for making sure our transient boaters have a safe and memorable experience when coming to visit our capital city and that our seasonal clients are well taken are of. In Alex’s free time you can find him mountain biking, playing soccer or working through a Sudoku in the local paper.
