Songhees Nation and lək̓ʷəŋən Traditional Dancers provide welcome.

lək̓ʷəŋən Traditional Territory/Victoria, BC, May 15, 2025 — Anthem of the Seas, a state-of-the-art ship operated by Royal Caribbean, made its inaugural call into Victoria on May 15.
The ship, which carries approximately 4,000 guests and has more than 2,000 rooms, is scheduled to make 20 more calls to Victoria in 2025, visiting the Breakwater District at Ogden Point every Thursday until October 2. Eleven of the 20 calls have morning arrival times, which will give guests at least 10 hours to explore Victoria.
Another Royal Caribbean ship, Quantum of the Seas, will also visit Victoria 21 times in 2025.
Christine Sam from Songhees Nation and the lək̓ʷəŋən Traditional Dancers provided a territorial welcome to captain Johan Hill. Guests had an opportunity to view the dance performance as they disembarked from the ship.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Anthem of the Seas to Victoria,” said Robert Lewis-Manning, CEO of the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA). “We deeply appreciate that this vessel will visit on a weekly basis from now until October. Our friends at Royal Caribbean will help introduce our city to thousands of visitors this summer.”
Anthem of the Seas offers a series of thrilling activities and immersive experiences for guests, including the North Star, a 360-degree observation capsule; skydiving and surfing simulators; bumper cars and roller-skating in SeaPlex; a spa and fitness centre; and a Jamie Oliver Italian restaurant.
Victoria’s 2025 cruise season continues until October 18. More than one million passengers and crew will pass through the terminal. The next inaugural call of 2025 will be the MS Riviera on June 25.
